iGoogle gets an update!

Google has rolled out their latest version of the iGoogle home page, and so far, it rocks. If you’re anything like me, your home page is probably the page you view the most throughout the day. I’m constantly clicking my home button to check for new emails in my inbox, to check out stock prices, and to catch up on my favorite news sites. Considering how much I use the iGoogle, I’m always a little bit excited when I see something new.

So, the new features you say?

The biggest change that most people will notice right away is that the navigation has been move to the left hand side. The big advantage to this is that they’ve made it possible for you to access all your gadgets individually without having to click a specific tab first.

Not only can you select specific gadgets quickly, but you can also view them in what their calling canvas view. Basically, this means you can have your gadget take up the whole window as opposed to the preview 1/3 screen view size.

Other new features include the ability to use Chat on the iGoogle home page rather than through gmail, and new rounder gadget boxes.

Finally one of the nice things they’ve done away with is the need to click the title of a news article to view it’s summary. Instead, all the summary’s are neatly place below the article titles.
